Welcome to Ms. H Grade 3!!!
Field Trip Info: Tallahassee / Florida Government
April 30th, leaving school at 7:15, arriving back around 5:30 Students will be split into three groups, rotating between a tour of the Supreme Court building, a tour of the Capitol building, and a scavenger hunt at the Historic Capitol Museum. Each tour is about an hour long. We will have lunch as a group in the Capitol courtyard (students will bring a sack lunch or have a sack lunch from the cafeteria). Due to the length of the journey, we will rent charter busses. The busses have bathrooms, comfortable seats, and are able to show a movie (they do not allow food). The cost of the field trip pays for the charter busses. The tours are free of charge. Because we are leaving the county, the school district has special requirements, including school board approval of the trip. Parents will have to complete a specific permission slip, that has to be notarized. This can be done at the school, by our data clerk, Julie Mason, or by an outside notary. Only adults that have been fingerprinted and background checked may accompany us on the field trip. Last year additional Bay staff came with us, so we had two adults per classroom. We will send home additional information well in advance of the field trip, to give families time to have the form notarized. If you do not plan to have your child attend, please let me know ASAP as that affects our cost per student. Thanks! Important Bus Change Form! The transportation department is now requiring a form to be completed by parents for all BUS changes. For example, riding home with a friend, getting off at a different stop. Here is a link to the PDF of the form for your use. Bus Transportation Change Form Ms. Hawkins Amazon Wish List Join Remind 101 https://www.remind.com/join/7ac7ee |

About your teacher
My name is Chelsea Smith. I moved to the area in October of 2016, after accepting a job at Bay Elementary. I have lots of family in the area and I am blessed to work for such an amazing school. Before moving to Florida, I lived in Snellville, Georgia. I worked at Mason Elementary for my first three years of teaching, where I taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grade. I recently got married on November 17th, 2018. I have two amazing step children, Christian and Preston. Christian attends Freeport Middle School and Preston is in third grade at Bay with us. I can't wait for an amazing Year!
NED is a Character Education program that we will be using at Bay this year. NED stands for:
Never Give Up
Encourage Others
Do Your Best
Students will be learning about growth mindset in addition to lessons on not giving up, encouraging others and kindness, and doing their personal best.
My class also watches this YES I CAN video and we use that as our class motto! We work on being positive and telling ourselves "yes I can!"
